You Will Loooove Lake Martin Real Estate

Poplar Dawg's

Are you kidding me?!? The $5 lunch special at this local joint on hwy 34 (Pace's Peninsula) on lovely Lake Martin is insane . . meat and two, plus drink.

Full of all kinds of folks--with mud on their boots, or designer glasses on their head, or local authority badges on their chest (it is 45 mph on this road, by the way).

Everybody seems to know everybody, or wants to know you when you walk through the door.

You'll order at the counter - if you're not into the daily special, take your pick of every type of sandwich in the world. You'll grab a cup and fill it with sweet, sweet tea (2 ginormous containers, usually empty by 12:30), then start meeting people sitting around you, or eavesdrop on all kinds of fun conversations.

Highly recommended.

Once your belly is full, drive down the 12-mile peninsula and scope some of Lake Martin's primier homesites. Pace's Peninsula divides Sandy Creek to the north, and Blue Creek to the south. If waterskiing is your cut of tea, Sandy Creek is your spot. If socializing by boat is the name of your game, Blue Creek is where it's at . . . Chuck's Marina (where you pick up pizza by boat), Niffer's, Oskar's (named after a girl, not a guy) deep water and gorgeous views. And the saying "location, location, location" rings particularly true here . . . 20 minutes from Auburn, and the first stop to Lake Martin from Atlanta.
