Lake Martin Home Buyers, Do you Know the Geography?

If you are considering buying a house in the Lake Martin area, you need to become familiar with the lay of the land and the shape of the lake. You need to know the names of certain areas around the lake. Alabama’s Lake Martin has more shoreline than sunny Florida. With the major branches forming somewhat of an anchor shape, Lake Martin water is in three counties with 6 towns/cities. If you check out my current real estate listings, you’ll see some beautiful homes in Alexander City, Tallassee, Jacksons Gap, and Equality. But if the big city is what you like, it’s not far from Lake Martin. Birmingham is just 1.5 hours away. Atlanta is about the same distance. Other cities, including Montgomery and Auburn, are even closer. Many of the newer, higher valued housing developments are accessible by Hwy. 63, aka Children’s Highway. These include Windover, Windermere, Willow Point, and The Ridge. Centrally located between these areas are a 5-star restaurant and Willow Point Golf Course. On the southwestern point of one of the branches is Parker Creek. This area was the first developed around the lake and now has a mix of rustic cabins and million-dollar mansions. Many think this area is the prettiest part of the lake. Not to be forgotten is Dadeville, on the eastern branch tip.
